SCP-479: Shadows of the Mind | Full Game Walkthrough | No Commentary
95We cannot have a Halloween without at least one SCP video to archive. Luckily SCP-479 was recently released and offers us a scary adventure where we get sent into an abandoned building to retreive a document. Time is of the essence since SCP-479 will give us hallucinations and if we take too long it will end very badly for us.
So we need to find resources like batteries and medicine and find keys to progress to new rooms in order to find the code to the final room. I liked the adventure and exploration of the game, but the time limit or sanity limit made it to where it is more rewarding to rush the game than actually experiencing it. There are random jumpscares that can happen, but they will happen more frequently when your sanity is low. That means that playing the game the proper way and using medicine will cut you off from some jumpscares. I think the game can benefit from a tighter scripted experience from the developers themselves than the random elements. There are some really effective scares and sound design in this game, but many wont see them. Some of the keys are also quite hard to spot and I think the flow of the game would be better if it is scripted more. Because once I realized that sanity was on a timer and I had to look for keys over and over again I just focused on that instead of taking in the great atmosphere. Hopefully we will see some improvement with their next SCP game.
