SCREAM Video Interview: Jasmin Savoy Brown & Mason Gooding Embrace Humor & the Meeks Family Legacy
25Yellowjackets' Jasmin Savoy Brown and Booksmart's Mason Gooding play siblings Mindy and Chad Meeks-Martin in the new Scream, releasing in theaters on January 14. That last name should sound familiar to Scream franchise fans; Mindy and Chad are related to Randy Meeks (Jamie Kennedy).
Randy Meeks became a fan favorite in Wes Craven's 1996 thanks to his sense of humor and deep knowledge of horror and its rules for surviving one. How much of that reflects in Mindy and Chad? Is Brown naturally attracted to darkly funny genre roles? Bloody Disgusting chatted with the pair for answers, below.
The filmmaking team behind Scream includes directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin & Tyler Gillett, as well as executive producer Chad Villella, the three members of the filmmaking group Radio Silence (Ready or Not, V/H/S, Southbound).
The plot is set “Twenty-five years after a streak of brutal murders shocked the quiet town of Woodsboro, a new killer has donned the Ghostface mask and begins targeting a group of teenagers to resurrect secrets from the town’s deadly past.”
James Vanderbilt (Murder Mystery, Zodiac, The Amazing Spider-Man) and Guy Busick (Ready or Not, Castle Rock) wrote the script. Michel Aller served as the editor for the film.
