Scruffy: The Beginning (with scrapped partner feature)
4This is what Scruffy 3 1/2 turned into. I was unhappy with how it was turning out so I started it over. I actually kept all the levels and bosses I made so there's no loss at all. I originally planned to have an AI controlled partner who would follow you around and help you attack enemies; it was working really well, but there were some huge problems I couldn't fix, and I had to cut it. This video shows what it would've looked like, using the sprites of Scruffy's arch nemesis (now named Kranion because it sounds much better). You also get to see Scruffy's new moves, like the backflip, sideflip, the wall jump (which needs to be fixed up a bit), and the slide (which turns his lower body into a pencil point). The rather generic powers of the original version I replaced with much more bizarre morphing abilities; the Hi-Jump power was replaced with the Spring Morph, which is basically the same thing but funnier looking. Other powers include a coat hanger that lets you hang on hooks, and a fat guy who can slam the ground and roll instead of sliding.
