In Sea Fighter Poseidon, a man is controlled via joystick on a submarine-powered scooter. The player's goal in each level is to rescue a set number of hostages trapped in transparent pods on the seabed.

This scooter is equipped with torpedoes with unlimited ammunition, which are used to shoot enemies piloting the same vehicles they are attacking. After eliminating an enemy, the player can have the man get on the free vehicle by dismounting from the one currently in use by pressing the appropriate button. He must also constantly pay attention to the fuel gauge displayed in the upper left corner of the interface, as the scooter could explode, resulting in a life loss. To avoid this, press the dismount button just before it runs out.

When not riding, the man swims and fires harpoons, but in this state, his movement is limited, so the difficulty level will vary significantly depending on whether the player can successfully switch vehicles.

You can also lose a life by being hit by underwater mines or eaten by sharks. And when you run out of lives, the game is over.
