Secret Commando (Sega Master System) playthrough: Stage Six (Final): "The names Rambo..John Rambo"
Remember those old school James Bond movies where towards the end of the film, Bond would infiltrate the bad guy's super secret high tech base, there would be a huge shoot out and Bond mowed down lots of bad guys and blew lots of shizz up in the process? The final stage so reminds me of that.
Our hero, Rambo, has now, somehow, finally found himself on the shores of the enemy's stronghold...a fortified high tech island base.....yeah. Rambo must now negotiate and survive his way through an onslaught of varied enemies like gas mask wearing riflemen, tanks, bazooka and flamethrower men, skipping grenades, fire spitting rock formations (!).
Only then can he make his way to the final barricade (which when I was younger, I always thought was an evil super computer, with the face and all, I guess I was wrong) and finally free the last remaining captives.
And the end credits just make me laugh (poor Sly, they really weren't kind to his facial profile...Monty Burns anyone?)
Its an alright game, Its a fun run and gun shmup, ideally played in two player co-op mode. Yet, some parts in the game really made me wonder if the game designers actually watched the Rambo: First Blood part 2 movie or had something else in mind when they developed this. Also, the controls can be a bit jerky and unresponsive at times, and Rambo's rifle is annoyingly slow. All up, an average game, at best.
