SECTOR'S EDGE Gameplay - FPS with Fully Destructible Environment - Good or Bad?
My first impressions after playing Sector's Edge for the first time. Sector's Edge is now on early access on Steam. It's a free-to-play competitive first-person shooter multiplayer game featuring fully destructible environments.
It features lots of different guns, the ability to create loadouts, and the option to create your own custom-builds before getting into battle.
Is it a good FPS game? Is the fully-destructible environment really matter in this game?
It's a unique gameplay concept but it seems that at least at the current stage, Sector's Edge's map design and overall balance doesn't necessitate the use of the building blocks as an important survival tool, like in Fortnite, nor that we really get to enjoy the full blow out destruction as I was expecting to see. Nor does my teammates or the enemy team seems to care about taking advantage of the buildings blocks a lot. The game was just released yesterday, so I will play more and see whether my impression will change.
As for now, it's not fun, just a below-average FPS gameplay experience, nothing more. The performance is good though, as expected for a low-poly voxle-based level design.
Disclaimer: The gameplay footage was captured in the early access version of the Sector's Edge on Steam.
