Once you have gained control of your character, head towards the only unlocked house in the village, which is located in the top left of the map. Head upstairs and talk to Blade in bed, who will give you 200 kims (this games currency) and your objective. Be sure to set the game's dialogue speed to Fast, unless you enjoy waiting for the chat log to load.

Now head to the Weapons/Armor shop and purchase a Bronze Sword and Small Shield, then equip them from the main menu. You won't have any armor just yet, but we will grind exp/kims outside shortly for that. be sure to talk to the man just outside of the church, who will give you a map of the surrounding area.

When you are ready, head outside to find this game has a different world map and method of travel that is different from in towns/cities. When on this map, you can only travel forward (pressing up), backwards (pressing down) or turn left/right. On this first screen, follow the only path you can take to the next screen, then work your way towards the dead end that is found in the top right of this second map, where you will find a chest containing 50 kims.

At this point, I recommend grinding out fights until you get at least 420 kims: 400 for the Bronze Armor, 10 for the Inn to rest up, and 10 for a candle for the first dungeon. This should only really take 10-15 minutes or so. In general, I recommend not running away from any battle if you can help it. This will greatly reduce the amount of time that you have to spend grinding kims or exp later, and will make the dungeons a lot easier for you in the long run. When you have the kims, purchase these items and then head to the cave that is found at the bottom of the map that we hadn't explored just yet.

First thing's first, in any cave/dungeon you will need to use a light source. In this dungeon, the only one available to you is a candle. You will want to take a left at the first fork in the path that you encounter, which will get you the area map. The 2 dead ends through the gate on the left side will both have chests that contain 100 kims and herbs. Back on the other path, the short dead end at the top of the map will contain a chest that has a candle inside of it. The final dead end is your true destination where you will find an old man that will give you the Ring of Wisdom.

With the ring in hand, head back out of the dungeon and back to Wyclif where you should rest up at the Inn. Before you head out, be sure to talk to a man near the well in town, who will give you a map for the area towards your next destination, Parma.
