Walkthrough:
Shinryu is considered by some to be another very difficult boss on par with Omega. This is certainly true if you don't go into the fight prepared for it. First, head back from the Necrophobe save point back to the section and go to the chest that we bypassed earlier. Before opening the chest, change your party set up to match this:
Mystic Knight with Rapid Fire ability. Hermes Sandals equipped.
Mystic Knight with Rapid Fire ability. Hermes Sandals equipped.
Any job with White Magic equipped. Hermes Sandals equipped.
Summoner or any job with Summoner ability equipped. Hermes Sandals equipped.
You can do this with only 1 Mystic Knight if you want, but 2 speeds it up. As with Omega, the key is not actually with your damage. This time, it's with your Summoner and person with White Magic.
02:27 - The Fight
When you are ready, open up the chest to engage Shiryu. For your first turn have your 2 Mystic Knights cast Flare Blade. Your Summoner should cast Golem and your other party member should cast Berserk on Shinryu. This will force Shinryu to only do physical attacks that will be 100% blocked by Golem. For the second turn onward, have your Mystic Knights use Rapid Fire, your Summoner should keep casting Golem and your other party member can spam Curaga just in case an attack breaks through Golem's barrier. By the end of turn 2, you should be able to put the fight on auto attack until Shinryu falls.
Afterwards, head back to the prior save point to rest/heal and either be ready to grind out any remaining job levels or for the final boss(es) of the game.
