There usually are six screws holding the circuit board to the casing not four but when I first took it apart the heads of two of the screws broke off. These come with batteries. Although I doubt anyone else will do this, if you buy new old stock and actually want to open and play it be aware there is a high likelihood of battery corrosion. The reason I originally disassembled it was just to get it to work again. If it is completely sealed the corrosion likely won't be as bad but if the packaging is partially ripped and new air can easily get to it then complete disassembly and cleaning might to necessary.
The "mod" of flipping the background graphic around I feel makes it much easier to see the actual game play elements. That the background for the player's life bar is dark purple and the actual LCD is dark grey for example is a bad combination. The reticle lines are also pretty thin and more difficult to see with the background.
