Now the controller can be assigned to port one (via a joystick button combination). A number of game images I tried to load before this update wouldn't work since the Mini assigned the joystick to port two with no way to change it. There are only two USB ports on the mini and if loading game images that aren't part of the firmware one needs to use one of those ports. Well I believe a USB hub would have also been a solution but that felt like too much of a hassle.
Got this Christmas of 2018 from someone who did a podcast I helped with. Played around with it for an evening or two then didn't touch it essentially since the two years plus later when I put together this video.
In case you are wondering, the keyboard is purely for aesthetics. The joystick is also one of the most unergonomic controllers I've used. My hands genuinely start to ache after about fifteen minutes of use. Also a lot of its games confuse or totally escape me rules/goal wise. If the game doesn't confound me it still often usually gets boring to me fast. When growing up my family had an Atari 800 so I've more nostalgia for that micro and via emulation on PC will still play it now and then.
