Using Suzaku's Lotus Umbrella prosthetic tool & Projected Force skill for the first two phases and the Malcontent tool to get through phase 3 unscathed. I always approach to my right / his left leg and try to circle behind him, but that's not always possible. His close-range attacks don't really change between phases.

He'll stomp once with his right foot, or stomp quickly with his left foot and right foot. These attacks can all be deflected normally. Don't just mash the attack button if you're standing in front of him because the left foot stomp will hit you before you can react and deflect.

He'll use his fiery left arm to swipe twice, stomp with the right foot and then swipe once again. When he does this, keep moving behind him to avoid the two swipes, deflect the foot stomp and then dash into him to avoid the final swipe.

He'll leap into the air and come crashing down, sending you flying. When he jumps into the air, either run away and turn around to grapple onto him after he lands, or stay where you are and open the Umbrella to avoid damage and then quickly follow up with an attack to trigger the Projected Force skill. In phase 1, I opted to run and grapple to conserve spirit emblems for later use.

He'll perform a quick headbutt that can be deflected, it's difficult to avoid if you're not to the side or behind him.

His red "danger" attack is a charge. When you see the red kanji warning, jump to avoid getting hit. After this charge, chase him. He'll usually perform a long-range fire attack, so be prepared to open the Umbrella to avoid damage as you approach him.

After the charge, in phase 2 he can send fireballs after you. Just sprint to the side to avoid them. He'll also send a carpet of flames directly at you - sprint to the side and when he stamps his foot down, jump and grapple over to him.

In phase 3, he may perform another charge as you get close, so look out for the warning.

Also in phase 3, he always begins with the flame circle "danger" attack. At the start of the phase, stay close and jump-kick him to avoid it. Use the Malcontent when needed, it gives you a huge window to attack and possibly stagger him.

I missed one of the eavesdrop opportunities, so Wolf didn't recognise him. 😔
