This fight is broken up into three phases: The first two play exactly the same, and the final stage is similar, but the boss is a tad more aggressive and uses lightning.

It's recommended to use an Ungo's Sugar before the fight starts, to take less damage. In addition, get into a rhythm of deflecting, then attacking. This will raise Genishiro's posture meter significantly.

Try to ration out your healing items and if you die before the second phase, just restart. The axe comes in handy, as well, as it does a good job of depleting his posture.

When he jumps in the air, move out of the way and be ready for his followup attack that is unblockable. You can use the Mikiri Counter for this, but if your timing is iffy, you might want to just back away.

The last section is similar to the previous two. Just be aware of his lightning attack and dodge behind him when he jumps up in the air.
