Location: Ashina Castle - Upper Tower - Ashina Dojo
After killing the Corrupted Monk and Guardian Ape, backtrack to Ashina Castle through the Abandoned Dungeon. You must reach the tower roofs, on your way there you encounter Lone Shadow Vilehand in the room where previously the Ashina Elite Jinsuke Saze miniboss fight took place.
Strategy: Ensure that you have the Puppeteer Ninjutsu equipped. Upon entering the Dojo, crouch and position yourself behind the non-boss enemy on the left side. Perform a backstab on this enemy and press the attack button (:R1) to activate the Puppeteer skill, causing him to fight alongside you against the boss. Now, it will be the two of you against the boss. Keep in mind that your ally will likely perish during the boss's first health bar, but this setup allows you to deal significant damage during that time.
Once your ally is defeated, adopt the same strategy used against the Lone Shadow Longswordman miniboss. Whenever Vilehand is about to launch an attack at you, perform a forward dodge with a slight tilt to the left (the side where he holds his sword). After dodging, execute the Whirlwind Slash Combat Art by pressing the corresponding buttons (:L1 + :R1). Repeat this pattern: forward dodge when the boss initiates an attack, followed by the Whirlwind Slash. Rinse and repeat this sequence.
