In this video we cover everything you need to know about picking your starting dupes-- their interests, their attributes, their traits, and their stress reactions.

The short version looks like this:

Science is the best attribute, because it grants a massive bonus to research speed PLUS it improves both XP and attribute leveling.

Strength and Athletics are great as well.

Most other attributes are bad, digging is the least bad of the other attributes.

The best positive traits include Quick Learner, Twinkletoes, and Buff, because they upgrade the best attributes. Also great is Diver's Lungs, because it's one of the only traits that affects the resources required to keep your dupe alive.

Negative traits to avoid include flatulent (absolute pain to play with), Slow Learner, Anemic, and Noodle Arms (because they hit science, athletics, and strength respectively) Mouthbreather and Bottomless Stomach, because like Diver's Lungs they impact the resources needed to keep the dupe alive, and depending on how careful you are, Tryptophobia, Unconstructive, and Narcoleptic have the potential to get your dupe killed.
