Selling A Hornby Class 60? Here Is Some Packing Tips For Sellers (eBay Sellers etc).
Not done a video like this before but I thought I would share some packing tips for those that sell these Class 60 models and model trains for a living. In the past, I have some Hornby Class 60's arrive to me with the horns smashed off due to the poor design of the packaging as there is little to no protection offered to the Class 60 model when posted in transit.
This is no fault of any seller or buyer for that matter. This is more down to the poor design of Hornby's newer post-2015 packaging that is still used to this day and although the post 2022 models have a better inlay film on the top of the models than the pre-2022 models where the film was the culprit for ripping off the horns on many models due to snagging from the poly film inside. This can be addressed by snipping the film at the end where the horns are protruding out in half.
This way, the film cannot pull off and snap the horns off from any Class 60 model and I highly recommend using the technique here that I have done as it stops the Class 60 model moving around in transit and don't forget to stuff the sides of the plastic tray with off cuts bubble wrap to stop the tray caddy moving.
The purpose here is to stop the Class 60 model moving around by restricting movement of the plastic caddy and to improve its grip on the model. This is first model train packing tip video I have done so I welcome any constructive feedback on it please.
I am sure this will help eBay sellers with improving protection on their model trains as this could apply to other Hornby model trains that are also prone to damage from this poor style of packaging.
