Shake Shoppe Arcade is a brand new concept featuring a well-known family-owned ice cream brand, Hershey's® Ice Cream, and the large scale, international arcade operations company, PrimeTime Amusements.
The first Shake Shoppe Arcade is now open on the famous "Jersey Shore" boardwalk in Seaside Heights, New Jersey. The Shake Shoppe Arcade is the first of many planned locations by owners and partners PrimeTime Amusements and Hershey's Ice Cream.
The Jersey Shore location opened just in time for the Memorial Day holiday weekend in May 2013 and completely replaced a damaged and antiquated arcade that was destroyed by Hurricane Sandy.
Hurricane Sandy ravaged the Jersey Shore and boardwalk in late 2012. Stores were flooded, the boardwalk destroyed, the well-known boardwalk roller coaster pushed off into the ocean. Patti Hershey, long time New Jersey resident and business owner, saw her arcade nearly destroyed. Devastated, Hershey was thrilled when an opportunity came along to start over. Thanks to a partnership and investment courtesy of PrimeTime Amusements and Hershey's® Ice Cream, the Shake Shoppe was made possible.
Usually, entertainment outlets like the Shake Shoppe Arcade can take years to build. The Shake Shoppe Arcade, however, took only three months -- thanks to the combined effort of the partners!
The effort included: site visits after Hurricane Sandy, the surveying of the damage and the planning of how to build out the existing structure/building
When the facility plan was finalized....the PrimeTime Amusements team started planning the arcade game room layout; then came the design of foam pieces along with PrimeTime's sister company PT Foam. The massive and life-like ice cream scoops, cones and shakes were created all in PrimeTime's Florida warehouse.
When the foam sculptures were complete, they were shipped up to New Jersey and affixed to the exterior of the Shake Shoppe Arcade building.
With the exterior façade of the new Shake Shoppe Arcade complete, installations could begin on the six-thousand square-foot location, featuring a 400-square-foot ice cream shop, an arcade room with 80-plus New Jersey and boardwalk-themed arcade and redemption games, and a hamburger and hotdog joint.
