Shape Shifter PC (Beat the Clock - Level 32) in 45:45 [World Record]
0Achieved on April 24, 2021. This is a speedun to Level 32, where the main stage difficulty stops increasing at 12 slots per row and 20 possible shapes. The big luck factor is what "classes" of shapes are randomly chosen for each stage. For instance, getting many different types of pentagons or diamonds is bad because they all look the same, while smiley faces, snowflakes, or hand prints are easy to locate and differentiate.
The difficulty cranks up extraordinarily at level 32, where just to play it safe, I pause buffer when getting the revealer to increase my reaction time relative to the in-game clock. And guess what, it's GAME OVER if that ticks to zero. This is allowed in the speedrun because it costs real-time seconds.
Other categories I would postulate are Beat the Clock - Level 70, which is where the bonus stage difficulty stops increasing at 20 columns long. There would also be Shape Speedster - Level 32 where really the only difference from "Beat the Clock" mode is that you're deducted one time unit per discard. Neither of those sound like fun lol.
