In this video, I return to my Pokémon FireRed to resume the quest that I left years ago and you can watch how I finally found my shiny roaming Suicune after so long. Fortunately, I recorded the legendary moment in a live video for the channel. You'll notice that I didn't use a Pokémon with the "Illuminate" ability. The reason is that I started the quest on that way by then, when I returned to resume this quest I decided to not use a Pokémon with that ability to prove that I can do it at least once which makes this achievement even harder than it is. I didn't catch it in this video and I explain why on it. I also talk about some plans that I have and are coming soon.

STORY BEHIND THE QUEST

When I was able to get an authentic cartridge of Pokémon FireRed in 2016, I felt tremendously happy and excited to start a new game, but unlike all my other previous games, I started this game with something that I never ever tried before, and that is looking for and catching shiny Pokémon. After I beat the Elite Four of the Kanto Pokémon League, my target was to do the rematch with a new shiny Pokémon team and be able to do anything that I never ever thought I would do until I got my first shiny Pokémon, and that's looking for a roamer shiny Pokémon. I always knew how hard it was to encounter one, look for a shiny one seemed to be the most insane challenge I could ever imagine in that moment, but I knew it was possible and that's all what I needed to know. So, when I caught my shiny Larvitar, the last Pokémon for the rematch team of the Pokémon League back in 2019, it was time to start this quest. I remember that I laughted knowing that it was the moment. I saw a video of a live shiny Suicune in Pokémon FireRed and also searched for information of how to do this quest to be ready and start with it how it had to be.

At the beginning, I knew that it could take me a lot of time, but I believed that it would appear in the first 500 or 1000 encounters so I tried not only to get my target in that number of attempts but also try to record this quest with my camera because I was hoping to get it in a live video. Over time, I began to feel how tedious and long this search was. So one day I made the decision to continue like this until I reached 500 resets. Later, I finally got my Nintendo DS capture card and I just had to wait for the best moment to return to my Pokémon FireRed officially. I have to say that I was already back earlier than planned just to complete my Kanto Pokédex as much as possible alongside my game of Pokémon LeafGreen.

THE TOTAL TIME OF THE QUEST AND MY DAILY OBJECTIVE

Date of the start of the quest: April 13, 2019
Time elapsed: 2 years, 7 months and 3 days (948 days)

Date of the resume to the quest: May 14, 2021
Time elapsed: 6 months and 2 days (186 days)

On my official return, my target was to do a total of 80 resets a day. 20 resets per recording session of the day. In every recording session I was being too perfectionist and strict, so when I couldn't get to that amount of resets I risk myself doing off-camera encounters or resets, I even made resets without checking if the Suicune I was looking for was shiny or not several times. I know that I was risking to find it off-camera or losing it by resetting without encounter it first but this is the truth. My laptop's performance wasn't like before and also my battery was lasting less and less. Then when I reached 2000 resets, I decided to reduce the daily objective to 60 resets, 15 resets per recording session. My recording sessions time were of 1 hour and 20 minutes approximately. But, there was a moment when my laptop could only record up to 40 minutes or less. It started to overheat more and more. I was suffering along with my laptop. But one day, I tried to record with the other GPU I had inside my laptop and discovered that I could record up to 1 hour and 30 minutes without having to record while recharging the laptop and even when I had to recharge it while recording, it no longer got overheated. If I knew about this in the first day... I kept with this way until I reached 10,000 resets.

From that moment on, I decided to forget about my daily objective of resets and just record as much as possible in every recording session forbidding me to do off-camera resets or pass forward resets again. At the beginning it was going well, but again I ended up doing any off-camera or pass forward reset. In the end, I put myself a daily objective of at least 10 resets per recording session.
