Shogo's been trying to prove himself for a long time. Like Faramir of Gondor, he is cursed with a father who resents him and undervalues him no matter what he does. Unlike Faramir, of course, Shogo is a sniveling, treacherous, homicidal twerp.
Perhaps his father will think well of him after today. But the rest of us will know better.
