In this video we unbox and test the 8bitdo 2.4GHz wireless controller compatible with the Super NES Classic, Super Famicom Classic and even the NES Classic Editions.

8bitdo has may not be a name you're familiar with but you should be. They make some of the best 3rd party controllers for Bluetooth accessories you will find, including their controllers for both the NES Classic and Super NES Classic. Bluetooth controllers, however, have a downside in-terms of pricing. See anytime you use Bluetooth you need to pay a royalty fee. The thing is Bluetooth is not the only wireless solution out there and by implementing another solution you can have negligible difference in performance with a reduction in price. That's what 8bitdo has done with their 2.4GHz SNES Classic controller, taken the molds from their Bluetooth controllers and retrofitted them with a new transmitter setup. Let's see how they work!

Straight from the box the 8bitdo 2.4GHz controller has the exact same fit, finish and feel as their original controller. This is great as that controller is a great replica of the stock SNES controller. Want a Super Famicom-style controller? No worries, they have that layout as well.

One of my biggest criticisms of some of these wireless controllers is that they often don't come paired with the wireless dongles from the box. It takes an extra step before boxing but it's a customer service that others have not done. The 8bitdo 2.4GHz controller actually does come paired from the box, thank you 8bitdo!

Performance is locked-in and spot-on. Whether playing platformers on the NES, action adventure games via Hackchi2 from the Genesis, fighting games on the SNES and more the lag and latency were virtually non-existent. It felt amazingly positive during gameplay, replicating the feel of the wired controllers on both the NES Classic and SNES Classic Editions. The thing just works, and in the end that's what it needs to do.

Why it RoX:
- $25 price tag is very resonable
- Great fit and finish
- Responsiveness is spot-on
- Compatible with SNES Classic, NES Classic and Super Famicom Mini
- Comes paired to the dongle right from the box
- Rechargeable battery included
- Available as either an SNES or Super Famicom-style controller

What could be improved?
- No turbo button functionality
- You may not like the color palette of the controller itself
- Uh, I can't blame it for why I am bad at some games?

Should you buy one?
Absolutely! If you are looking for a wireless controller for the SNES Classic, Super Famicom Mini or NES Classic Edition this should be towards the top of your list. It just works and works so well that it feels as good as the wired controller. I would highly recommend the 8bitdo 2.4GHz controller as a great addition to your collection.
