Most famously associated with heartless fights, Shrouding Dark Cloud is a staple boss theme in the series. In KH1 it plays for Guard Armor, Trickmaster, Preliminaries Cloud (heh), Pot Centipede, Parasite Cage #1 and finally AntiSora.

But first we have "The Heartless Has Come" a title that feels wrong but I guess is correct when referring to a singular heartless - the Guard Armor or Trickmaster. The first portion plays when Donald and Goofy land on Sora and see the key. Then the econd part plays 3 times - right after when the barriers and soldiers appear, again when Guard Armor assembles itself, and when Trickmaster arrives. This second portion is a short arrangement of Shrouding Dark Cloud, that's why it's in the video. Even little songs like this got remasters in 1.5.

Shrouding Dark Cloud returns in Coded for every boss but Data-Roxas. Finding good footage of original coded on mobile is difficult so I just used a generic pre-release screenshot. Re:coded and Days share a version again, it's fine. Don't have a lot to say about other SDCs, they don't change all that much until the last entry. Days uses it for Veil Lizard, Antlion and First Phase Xion. Re:coded for Guard Armor.

BBS' version is very close to Days/Recoded but the intro is definitely different, a faster tempo. Otherwise it's a slightly improved sound. It's the theme for Zack's first fight with Terra and his fight with Aqua. Also used in the Mirage arena and Deep Space. DDD uses this version for Tyranto Rex. This is so minor I could probably just put BBS, and DDD reuses tons of songs anyway. But I put both logos to be clear.

Then of course there's the 1.5 version which is definitely tainted by the association with recoloured heartless, but I can't whine about that forever. I like the song itself.

Finally KH3 comes and does what KH3 does, or rather Shotaro Shima creates a cool remix to theme the Gigas enemies. It's appropriately electronic and modern sounding. Takes me back to one of the pre-release videos where we first heard this. I was so excited back then. I did hear this more than I needed to when going for that high score achievement on Beat of Lead though.
