Civilisation is the turn-based strategy game that defined a genre and now the latest version is available natively for Linux. Officially only Steam OS is supported, but I've had no problems running it on Fedora with my Nvidia card and the binary drivers.

As is typical with Civ, what I planned to be a video of fifteen minutes or so ended up lasting more than 45. I was trying to show a broader selection of gameplay than you'd see if I just started from scratch so this video spans the years 50AD to 600AD. Some roads are built, mines and other resource gathering items are constructed, a wonder is built, you see a bit of interaction with the City States and I declare war on Siam and then capture one of their cities. This is my first actual game in Civ V so probably not an optimal example of how to do it, but you can see for yourself that a good portion of the game works flawlessly on Linux.

It's on sale on Steam right now (until about 6pm Wednesday UK time), just the base game at 75% discount (which I got) or the game plus all the downloadable extras at 66% off. Definitely worth checking out:
