[Synopsis]

This game was released in 2016 for various platforms, like Microsoft Windows, Xbox one, and the Sony Playstation 4. I had never this game on any video game platforms, like the Xbox one, or the Sony Playstation 4, the one I had was for the Microsoft Windows platform. When I first ran this game, I ran it on a I5-3570K based computer with 24 GB of DDR3 ram using a Geforce GTX 770 2 GB graphics card. I was using Windows 7 Pro at the time, but when I made this video I ran it on a I7-10700KF based computer with 32 GB of DDR4 ram using a Geforce RTX 3060 12 GB graphics card. This game is much better on a faster computer, like the one I used to make this video.

The format of this game has changed a little from the Civilization V which was released seven years earlier. You still have two trees of development, the first is scientific developments, and the second is cultural developments. To get more cultural developments, you must have structures, like monuments, temples, museums, and stuff like that. To get scientific developments, you must have structures, like libraries, universities, schools, research centers, etc. In this game, you can't build structures in cities, you must have something called a commercial, cultural, entertainment, or industrial developments. That didn't exist in Civilization 5. The combat is the same, one unit per hex tile; however, later on you can absorb the power of three units into one unit to increase the hit point of one unit.

Civilization VI shares much in common with Civilization V, so if you played Civ V the learning curve isn't very much. However, if you played Civilization IV, and you played this game then the learning curve will be steeper due to the differences in the formats of those games. In this game, the price of units when you try to buy them with gold fluctuates in relation to time, like in real life. In other words, you have inflation factored into the price of units if you wish to purchase them with gold. The diplomatic interface has not changed much from Civ 5, it looks very similar. Another difference is there is no unhappy, content, or happy people in this game. In this game, unhappy people manifest themselves in the form of barbarians within your borders. Depending on the age, barbarians may be armed with clubs in ancient times, but in modern times they can be armed with anti-tank missiles.

The only way you can build roads in this game is by using traders that make a road through a trade route, or by using a military engineer. A regular worker cannot produce roads in this game, like all the previous games, and workers perish after they build 3 to 4 improvements. When a worker builds an improvement, they do so in one turn. In the previous games, a worker could take 3 to 10 turns to build improvements. The conditions for victory are through conquest, sending a spaceship to deep space, or through a cultural victory. In retrospect, if you played the previous Civilization games, you should be able to learn to play this in a hour or less.

Civilization VI got good reviews in most video game, and computer game magazines. This game has much better AI compared to Civilization V, but it is a fun game overall. It is as addictive as Civilization (1991), and it is a timeless game which has a lot of replay value.
