4With few options available to her to help her father, Rosella is still under the thumb of the evil enchantress Lolotte, and must continue to attempt to appease her, if she is ever to find the magical fruit needed to cure her ailing father, King Graham. After crossing a strait to a small island, Rosella is swallowed by a whale, and must do all in her power to escape without succumbing to the noxious fumes within its gaping maw.

King's Quest IV: Perils of Rosella is the fourth entry into the King's Quest series and the first among them to move from the Sierra AGI engine to the new SCI engine, with square pixels and the introduction of the beautiful midi sequences of the Roland MT-32. It tells the story of King Graham's daughter, Rosella, on a quest to save Graham after he collapses when welcoming Alexander (Gwydion) and Rosella home after the adventures of King's Quest III. She is transported to the magical realm of Tamir, where in true King's Quest fashion, she must interact with fairytale creatures in order to help a fairy godmother analogue, in order to secure the one cure for her father's malady.
