Sip 'N Slide Witch Farm - Talon's Oasis - Ep 51
2I test a mob farm idea. One that tries to solve the classic problem of get-the-witches-off-the-spawn-platform-as-quickly-as-possible by tricking them into drinking a speed potion and running off. The goal being to make an interesting, unusual farm rather than the normal, common type of witch farm.
Extra Bits:
- Witches are immune to an insane amount of damage sources, they have healing potions, fire resist, and water breathing, which makes them immune to the majority of damage sources like lava, drowning, magma blocks (they're blocked by fire resist!), and wither roses (healing potions slow down their net damage taken).
- I tried out using a lodestone with the sip and slide witch farm location, and it was super easy to fly back and forth between my base and the farm despite it being a few hundred blocks away. Normally I would set up a portal, but it worked so well that I think I prefer flying back and forth to running around in the nether.
- The hardest screenshot I've ever taken was the witch drinking the speed potion on the left of the thumbnail. Because you have to be at least 11 blocks away for them to drink it, I could zoom in fast enough to take a picture that wouldn't have to be scaled up and result in lots of pixelation. I tried for an embarassing amount of time before I conceeded that it wasn't possible to get a close up of the witch drinking a potion with one person, so I finally went and got someone to help me out and then it was fairly easy.
Command Block Survival is a combination of vanilla Minecraft and certain creative mode aspects to allow the editing of command blocks. It expands the possibilities of creations in Minecraft far beyond what vanilla allows. And by balancing the command block contraptions with various tradeoffs it keeps the vanilla Minecraft experience intact.
