This is about the saddest vocal song I know ... sung by the late, great Skeeter Davis. The saddest instrumental hit, in my opinion, was Floyd Cramer's "Last Date" (1960). Not so strangely, I suppose, Cramer wound up being the featured pianist on "The End Of The World." This haunting and sorrowful melody needs little in the way of description. One either has the heart to feel the pain in it or one doesn't. I know, despite the great fame it has enjoyed as an oldie over all these many years, it never got above #2 in the United States on either Billboard or Cash Box (three weeks on Cash Box from March 23, 1963 to April 12, 1963). It certainly deserved the #1 spot, if any song ever did. Even so, on most Canadian charts, including the prestigious Toronto station CHUM, it did peak at #1 on March 18, 1963. I have wanted to do a music video for this song a long time now, but do not feel that my last attempt a few years ago really did it justice. I hope, finally, this time, I have done that.

NOTE: I did a sloppier, more faded version of this in 2015, so I revised it in 2017 to make it fit widescreen more perfectly and also to give it richer contrast in B&W than it had previously.
