I play weird games, what can I say. And sometimes I convince my friends to buy them so I can try them out properly. And sometimes the games aren’t that great, so then I owe my friends a lunch. And sometimes my friends stop being my friends forever.

Pretend you’re an airplane and have dogfights with other players who are also pretending they are airplanes!

I was intrigued by the premise and the look of ‘Cult of the Wind’, a multiplayer-only indy game, but it didn’t live up to expectations. Admittedly it appears to have been developed by ONE guy. THIS VIDEO IS NOT A REVIEW, but since I do entertainment vids which sometimes span games that may be unknown / suck, I like to make sure things aren’t misinterpreted.

This game cost $15 when I got it. It’s down to $10 now it seems, which is still too much in my opinion. There’s fun ideas here, it looks cool, you can create maps and share them in the Steam Workshop, but the controls are mushy, we ran into several bugs, the gameplay isn’t intuitive (What do the powerups do? How can I get more ammo? Why did my character just pass out? How do I score? Why is the enemy spawning inside of me butthole?). These questions can be answered (sort of) by reading through the text tutorial and blundering around for a while, but these types of things should be easier to decipher. So THERE’S my mini-review of this silly game. We had fun with it, but I wouldn’t recommend it unless you A. Have a thing for obscure games that nobody is playing, or B. Have some friends who you don’t want anymore and can be tricked into buying it. Caveat emptor! ~Sark
