http://www.atomicgamer.com - A post on Reddit mentioned a trick that is rather difficult to get running on PC video cards - getting this setting ("Texture LOD Adustment") right makes the PC version of Skyrim look amazing and horrible simultaneously. Want to try it yourself? Read on, but be aware that this mode takes some technical work and should only be attempted in the pursuit of fun, as it doesn't make the game run any smoother or faster that I've seen. I also don't know of a way to make this work on Intel graphics. Sorry!

Instructions for Nvidia cards:

1. Go to your Nvidia Control Panel
2. Click Manage 3D Settings on the left
3. Click the "Program Settings" tab, then add the path to your TESV.exe file (Probably "C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\skyrim\TESV.exe")
4. Click Apply, or just close the window
5. Download this file: http://www.geeks3d.com/20100528/manage-your-sli-profiles-with-nvidia-geforce-sli-profile-tool/ (the GeForce SLI Profile Editor by Nvidia)
6. Run it, click Export SLI profiles, save the text file in Documents or your Desktop
7. Make a backup of this file so you can easily reverse these changes!
8. Open the text file in Notepad, do a search for "skyrim"
9. You should have a Skyrim section in front of you. If you see this line: "Setting ID_0x00738e8f = 0x00000000 UserSpecified=true" Change it so it looks like this: "Setting ID_0x00738e8f = 0x00000050 UserSpecified=true" If that line does not exist, add it in the Skyrim section. Make it look like the other ones. Be smart about it.
10. Import the text file you saved with the GeForce SLI Profile Editor
11. Skyrim now plays in crazy TF2/1995/Runescape/Minecraft mode!
12. To undo this, import the text file that you backed up to in step 7. Or change the 0x00000050 back to 0x00000000 in the file you saved in step 10.

Instructions for ATI Cards:

1. Download and install ATI Tray Tools from http://www.guru3d.com/article/ati-tray-tools-/
2. Right click on ATI Tray Tools
3. Go to 3D, then to 3D Settings
4. Find the tab called Additional
5. Change "Texture LOD adjustment" to 10 and apply
6. Skyrim in 1995 mode!
7. To change it back, just change the same setting in ATI Tray Tools back to 0.
