Being an author myself I can certainly attest to the Mod Authors having certain intellectual property rights that certain vocal members of the community would deny them in favor of Cathedral Modding, but you do have a legitimate copyright on things you own. But at the heart of that Copyright law that protects mod authors is also the legal doctrine of Fair Use. Fair use allows for Review and Satire to take place without express permission of the author.
