Previously, Davilas finished the Daedric quest "The Only Cure". Now, he will move on with the story a little bit. For "The Fallen", he must talk with the Jarl of Whiterun and get him to trap a dragon in Dragonsreach so he can learn Alduin's location.

At Dragonsreach in Whiterun, Davilas talks to Jarl Balgruuf. He will only help if Davilas can get the Greybeards to help negotiate a truce between the Empire and the Stormcloaks. This starts the quest "Season Unending" and puts "The Fallen" on hold. Next, Davilas must talk to Arngeir.

If you are involved in any Civil War quests at this point, note that the Civil War will be put on hold until Alduin is defeated. Also note that if you have already completed the Civil War quest line, no matter which side won, you skip "Season Unending", and the serving Jarl of Whiterun will help you right away.

Davilas fast-travels to High Hrothgar. There, he talks to Arngeir. Despite his reservations, Arngeir agrees to host a peace council. Davilas must talk to General Tullius in Solitude and Ulfric Stormcloak in Windhelm.

Also, Davilas asks about a Word of Power. This starts the objective "Find the Word of Power in Volunruud". Volunruud is a Nord ruin north of Whiterun.

First, Davilas travels to Solitude. He finds General Tullius in the Imperial stronghold, Castle Dour. After a little convincing, the general agrees to come to the peace council.

Next, Davilas fast-travels to the Palace of Kings in Windhelm. Ulfric certainly loves his speeches. Since Tullius has agreed to attend the peace council, Ulfric does not hesitate to come, as well.

Davilas fast-travels back to High Hrothgar. He first talks to Arngeir. Arngeir explains the meaning of "Season Unending". Delphine and Esbern arrive. Despite his dislike of the Blades, Arngeir lets them into the council.

Then, the peace council takes place in the Greybeards' meeting room when Davilas takes his seat. Davilas must help negotiate a truce. If you are neutral in the Civil War or have sided with the Imperials, the Stormcloaks will ask for control of Markarth. On the other hand, if you have sided with the Stormcloaks, the Imperials will ask for control of Riften. In these negotiations, Davilas does his best to remain neutral. If you have taken sides already, doing this quest properly can earn you some gear from your army's leader.

When the negotiations are concluded, "Season Unending" is complete. Then, for "The Fallen", Esbern teaches Davilas the shout "Call Dragon", which will call the dragon Odahviing to Dragonsreach. Davilas learns all three words of the shout: Snow, Hunter, and Wing. Now, Davilas must go to Dragonsreach to prepare the trap.

Before Davilas can leave, Delphine issues the quest "Paarthurnax". She wants Davilas to kill Paarthurnax. Otherwise, the Blades will no longer help Davilas. However, if Davilas does kill Paarthurnax, then the Greybeards will not help him anymore. I value the Greybeards' help far more right now, notably their guidance in locating Words of Power.

Davilas fast-travels to Dragonsreach in Whiterun. He tells the Jarl that he is ready to spring the trap on the dragon. They head to the Great Porch at the back of Dragonsreach.

In the Great Porch, Davilas must call Odahviing with "Call Dragon". Odahviing will soon appear. The objective is to lure him into the great porch so that the trap can be sprung.

Once Odahviing has been trapped, Davilas can interrogate him. With some digressions, Odahviing explains that Alduin's door to Sovngarde is in Skuldafn, a fane high in the mountains to the east. The problem is that Davilas can only get to Skuldafn by flying there. Odahviing offers to take Davilas there, but Davilas will have to release him. This concludes "The Fallen". The player earns the trophy "The Fallen" for completing this quest.

The next quest, "The World-Eater's Eyrie", starts right away. Davilas agrees to free Odahviing if Odahviing promises to take him to Skuldafn. Fortunately, this does not prove to be a mistake.

There is an amusing little scene with Farengar afterwards. Nice job there, Farengar.
