I've been doing research into animation/movement of map objects, and by sheer chance I managed to find a way to get to the animation speed region of any moving map object. However shortly after, I was told that this was found a long time ago! I never knew that, I found the same exact thing completely on my own without looking at any references. Oh well, at least I know how it works now. Here's the technical breakdown using the NTSC-U release and a memory editor.

First, find the struct of a moving map object. I'll be using the spinning top of Rajan's palace, which is at 0x1D3A910. Open that up in memory view.

Scroll down through its struct until you see a pair of addresses that have the values 00000006 and 00010005. They should be right next to each other.

For my example, this would be at 0x1D3ABF4. Assuming you're in 4 byte hex view, starting from the 00010005, look at the value right above it. That's a pointer! Go to it.

Align memory and you should be in a view with lots of changing values. Most of these are floats, so switch to Float view. The left-most column of addresses should contain the current speed of the animation. For this example, it's at 0x1E1D280.

You can use this address to increase or decrease the speed of the animation. Increasing it past a certain point will make it look like it's spinning slowly, but it's actually spinning extremely fast, just like a car's wheels at super high speeds.
