I find this mindset very troubling. If you are a content creator who makes content for fun or stream for fun, you are on the right track to be able to make money out of that content. But if you went into content creation thinking about making money early on, you're not going to survive.

This creator suggested that 5 viewers "aren't going to pay rent or groceries." While that is true, you should not go into streaming expecting money to come right away. You have to do it out of passion first. Otherwise, you're not going to be passionate enough to make content, and thus the quality will suffer because you have no passion.

And no. It's not "toxic positivity." It's encouraging to know that there are 5 people that gave a damn about what you're streaming. It's only toxic if it's about money. Yes, 5 viewers aren't going to give you lots of money, but they are a great first step to that threshold where you can finally make good money out of making internet content.

"5 people is a lot, but it's not enough to make a career out of." True, but you should not go into streaming expecting a career out of it either.

"There are still many more that do it to make a career." If you're just starting, and that's your mindset, you're going to fail because you won't earn money early on. You will only earn them later when you're big enough.

"You're telling us that we shouldn't and/or that it's a saturated field doesn't change the fact that it's how things are." Here's another fact: You're not going to earn money from your content until you're big enough. It's how things are.

"We shouldn't be looked at as greedy or disingenuous for wanting to survive in a country or system that tries to put us down." Yeah, keep blaming the country and system. You're still not going to earn money early on unless you are extremely lucky.
