NOTE: Apparently, Brawl perfect shields also incurred shieldstun without sliding, too. My bad. Still, knowing you can buffer grounded attacks out of a perfect shield is helpful, especially when considering the limitations behind the buffer input priority.

When you perfect shield an attack in Smash 4, you still incur hitlag freeze and shieldstun frames like when you shield an attack normally, but the shield pushback is negated entirely. This is different from Brawl, where you had no shieldstun frames at all on a perfect shield.

If you perfect shield and stop holding Shield before your shieldstun frames are finished, you can cancel the seven frames it normally takes to shield drop with an Attack, Special, or Jump input. You can actually buffer a Jab, any tilt, any Smash, or any grounded Special move in advance as long as you aren't shielding at the end of shieldstun, though a Smash input will only work if you let go of Shield before pressing a direction and Attack.
