This is the first look and playthrough of the demo for Smash Drums and so far it is looking really promising, playing the game will bring back the happy memories for anyone who ever ventured in to the joy of playing Rock Band, and that feeling of being an accomplished musician returns, for a split second or two.
There is just a single track in this demo, with two modes, Hero Mode where you have to complete the track with only a few misses and No Fail Mode, which as it says allows you to play through the track without the risk of failing, brilliant for learning and practicing. The music track itself is a soft rock song with a good beat that works well with the drum pattern on both the difficulty settings available. On easy setting I found myself playing as if I were in a real drummer, crossed arms, nodding my head to the beat, hitting the drums mostly in time, the harder setting, took a few attempts to work out the best method for completing the track with the least amount of fails.
In the completed game the developer is planning on having 15 tracks, various environments and an editor which should allow players to create endless amounts of maps.
