SMrMP: Continuing Minecraft with MrM and Chat
8I almost can't believe that we're trying this out with how novice I am at the game, but we are attempting a Minecraft (Java) SMP server!
Right now, I'm going to request that we do NOT start breaking into groups to fight each other. Stealing items is also strictly off-limits. I even have a grave datapack set to prevent people from accidentally picking up someone else's items when they die. Keep it friendly while we sort things out.
Right now, the server can only hold 10 players in it at a time. In order for me to actually know who's in the server, we're going to currently set it so that the SMP is only open to people that I have "whitelisted" (that means I need to type your name into the server as an "allowed player"). That way I can mentally match the YouTube user to the Minecraft account and have a better idea of who-is-who.
After you've been whitelisted, you'll actually be able to start up and join the server whenever, I believe. You'll just have to type "/join SMrMP" and the server will activate (it takes a bit, so be patient). Since y'all will be able to play virtually whenever, I will almost certainly be quite far behind every other player after just a while, but that's fine.
I reserve the right to kick/ban people that are unnecessarily aggressive towards others, especially when we're starting things up like this. Foul language also gets you booted, so be kind.

Just in case anyone happens to see this - I'm a Middle School teacher for Multimedia. I teach kids ages 11-14 all about filming, editing, voice recording, things like that!
This year (starting in the summer, because WOOHOO, summer break!), I am learning more about YouTube Live by actually streaming to it. I want to be a more informed person about this type of streaming, so that any questions that my future students ask can be answered with some experience!

I'm hiding this all the way down here. I personally don't think it's a good idea for me to push for monetary donations when I'm mostly just streaming to my students, but enough of them have asked how it would work that I finally broke down and set up a way to tip. Please, please, only tip money if you really want to show support for a Multimedia teacher learning more tricks of the trade. The money will go directly into funding the stream itself, through games and broadcasting materials.
