SMW Custom Level - The Cyber Passage
Info: So far managing to get the levels in this world done. Now I'm down to the last level of this world and have a pretty good idea of what the gimmick will be in the level. Anyways this level actually took a long time to set up due to how the tile set was set up. When first starting this level I've spent a long time looking for a good tile set as I didn't want to reuse the same tile set again. Not that I'd usually be opposed to reusing a tile set but I had already used it 3 times already. (Usually like to have at least two different tile sets per world.) So I found the perfect tile set to use for this level which was from Metriod Fusion but the problem was it came with 6 ExGFX files since it was combined with a background. Wanted to use the FG tiles didn't want to use all of those ExGFX files and the FG tiles could've easily fit into 1 ExGFX. Problem was the FG tiles where spread out all through out the ExGFX files and it was confusing to try to comprehend what was the foreground tiles......but in the end I managed, took a hell of along time but still did it.
Just thought I should share the complications of making this level. All was pretty much smooth sailing after I got the FG together though. Anyways this level revolves around the cyber blocks. (The blocks with the animation.) Each color has a different effect to them.
Red are hurt blocks obviously.
Yellow will slow your movement down by a lot but you can still jump normally.
Blue will make your movement slippery.
Green are bounce blocks.
I actually was making a level before my computer deleted everything that had this gimmick except there were even more colored blocks and in that level, Yellow use to drain life, Purple would make you move forward, Cyan didn't do anything (They were effect free blocks.) Black were instant kill and white were warp blocks. They also all had different animations and the design was made up of nothing but the cyber blocks. Looking back on it now I'm glad I decided not to go with that as the design probably wouldn't have been that good and the level probably would've caused some headaches with that many colors all animated at the same time. Anyways this level can be pretty tough and trickery. It's a pretty difficult level but a lot of me getting hit came from my own stupidity and not really the difficulty of the level. Was tired when recording this and also impatient and just ready to go to bed but I wanted to get a video uploaded before I did.
Anyways comments and feedback are always appreciated as I'd really like to hear your thoughts. Just one more level to finish in this Area is completed. Also I counted how many levels I've finished and how many levels I have left to work on and it turns out that I've finished 55 out of 78 levels. I've past the half way mark some time ago it seems.
