SNES Longplay #6: Contra 3 Alien Wars
After much success with Contra and Super C on the NES (and Operation C on Game Boy), everybody was hoping for a 16-bit upgrade on the Super NES. What we got was much more than an upgrade. We got an instant classic. Contra III: The Alien Wars is one of those titles that you buy a Super NES for. It featured more action, superior graphics and sound, and an adjustable difficulty for everyone to enjoy. These were the days when Konami really knew how to treat their fans. What happened to that attitude I'll never know. What I do know is that Contra III rules and makes an excellent sequel to the previous Contra titles. The idea of Contra is simple: DESTROY EVERYTHING IN SIGHT BEFORE IT DESTROYS YOU. From start to finish Contra III keeps you on the edge of your seat with non-stop action and intense boss battles. After it's release it became the Contra by which all other Contras would be judged.
