PS5 uses a dynamic resolution with the highest resolution found being 3840x2160 and the lowest resolution found being 2304x1296. Pixel counts at 3840x2160 seem to be rare on PS5.
Xbox Series X uses a dynamic resolution with the highest resolution found being 3840x2160 and the lowest resolution found being 2304x1296. Pixel counts at 3840x2160 seem to be uncommon on Xbox Series X.
In some scenes the Xbox Series X was found to have a resolution advantage compared to the PS5. As an example, at one point during the first mission PS5 rendered at 2688x1512 and Xbox Series X rendered the same scene at 3072x1728. Another example is the beginning of mission 2 where PS5 rendered at 2688x1512 and Xbox Series X rendered this scene at 2880x1620. There can also be scenes where both consoles render at the same resolution such as the beginning of mission 4 where both consoles render at 3264x1836.
Xbox Series S uses a dynamic resolution with the highest resolution found being 2560x1440 and the lowest resolution found being 1536x864. Pixel counts at or near 2560x1440 seem to be very rare on Xbox Series S.
Cutscenes are letterboxed which results in a lower effective resolution during these scenes.
PS5 appears to be using silhouette tessellation which wasn't seen on the Xbox Series consoles https://bit.ly/3xDXjuZ More information on this technique can be found here: https://bit.ly/3mCldAY
