Sniper Switch on PC using a controller
2Very old video. A bit difficult to explain the significance. For a long time, sniper switching was only available to be used on the PC version of the game. I figured out how to do it on a controller on both the console and the PC version of the game.
After moving, a Sniper without Snap Shot can only Overwatch with a pistol. After selecting Overwatch, the Sniper may switch back to a sniper rifle using the mouse, and the reaction fire animation will be performed with the rifle, despite the fact that Overwatch with a rifle is not possible.
This method works for most situations; however, the Archangel Armor was bugged on the PC version so that it was impossible to reach the maximum height without using a controller, but using a controller made you unable to perform the sniper switch exploit. When I figured out how to do the sniper switch with a controller it opened up a new Archangel suit sniper switch Overwatch strategy/exploit. It has been a long time since then, so I don't remember exactly why this was important. Maybe at maximum height with the AA armor you got additional range or LOS or something?
If I remember correctly, to perform this exploit you need to switch to the pistol, move or hover to the desired location, hover over the overwatch option, and then press and hold both the switch weapon button and the select button (A and X on the XBOX controller, which I used, not sure if it work with a PlayStation controller) and then release both buttons at the same time. That is basically what is happening in this video.
