SNOWY PLANETS REVISITED - Starbound: Frackin Universe Mod
6Since the weather outside is frightful, let’s look at some Snowy Planets!
Snowy Planets are the first cold planet you’ll run into in Starbound, found as quickly as Temperate Star solar systems. Apart from a ton of snow- and ice-based blocks, you can find plenty of trees and water pools filled with tiny fish! There are usually at least a couple of settlements and a few individual vendors on Snowy Planets -- including some weird ones you might not expect (such as Florans). Apex and Glitches often call these worlds home.
Be forewarned, though: the Cold effect will slow you down, especially in the Frackin Universe mod where various alien races now have weaknesses to cold and ice.
Should you let the cold stop you from colonizing a Snowy Planet? Well, it depends on the race of your character. Lizard creatures such as Draconises and Argonians have weaknesses to ice, whereas Apex and Novakid have buffs for it. Sometimes, the weakness is unexpected, too. Even Florans, which you would expect to be weak to ice (considering they are plants and all) are tough against the cold -- whereas Fennix, which are based on fire elementals in fox form, have problems in the frigid environment. But so long as you have the right EPP and augments, anyone can live there! So build igloos and ice lakes to your hearts content!
