We interrupt our normal retro gaming content this Wednesday to talk about the fact that Rent a hero No. 1, a Japanese exclusive Action RPG ala Shenmue, has been translated by fans into English! It's basically like a brand new Sega Dreamcast game in 2023...and WOW IS IT WEIRD! But the rom hacking fan translation is on point so lets check it out!

Rent a Hero is Shenmue if Shenmue tried to NOT be serious; a semi open world action RPG except it's filled with Sega history references to consoles like the Genesis / Mega Drive and 32X and Sega Saturn! Plus Segata Sanshiro shows up...there is a man in a Godzilla suit...and it uses the arcade engine from Spikeout / Spikers Battle. Seriously its all over the board weird and filled with video game history nods to classic Sega from the arcades to the home console world. Plus the fact this is now playable in English is great for the video game preservation scene!
