Soldier With 'Lion's Heart' Comes Home 22.10.13
A soldier shot dead in Afghanistan has been repatriated today.
The body of Lance Corporal James Brynin, who was 22 and served with the Intelligence Corps, was flown home to RAF Brize Norton in Oxfordshire.
His Union Jack draped coffin was later carried past the memorial garden at Carterton, where hundreds of people, including his family who said he had the "heart of a lion", paid their respects.
LCpl Brynin had been attached to 14th Signal Regiment (Electronic Warfare) when he deployed to Task Force Helmand in August this year.
He had been working as an intelligence analyst for a Light Electronic Warfare Team within the Brigade Reconnaissance Force of 7th Armoured Brigade when, in the early hours of 15 October, his section came under enemy fire during a mission in the area of Kakaran, north east of Lashkar Gah.
