A major exercise to test the steel of Britain and France's combined air power is underway in the UK.

Exercise Capable Eagle is the air component of Exercise Joint Warrior, a twice yearly, multinational, tri-service military exercise - one of the biggest of its kind in Europe.

It brings the RAF and its French counterparts together to test the challenges that could be faced by a British-French Expeditionary Wing aiding an overseas power under threat.

This year is the first time it has been led by a joint team of French and British air commanders, a move that paves the way to continued cooperation and training at a strategic level.

The two countries have worked together in previous conflicts, including in Libya and Mali in recent years.

British Forces News spoke to Group Captain Johnny Stringer, Expeditionary Air Wing Commander and asked what was being tested on this exercise.
