In Star World 2, get as many Rip Van Fish to follow me to the end of the level as the sprite limit will allow (either exit will do). No power up restrictions, but I cannot kill any Rip Van Fish (killing Blurps is okay, though). Also, I can't use baby Yoshi to help me swim faster.

Well, my first order of business was to get baby Yoshi to despawn offscreen somehow, so that I could have up to ten Rip Van Fish following me at once later. I decided to just jam him between the wall and the pipe at the start and then do some L and R screen scrolling and hope he fell out of bounds to the left. I restarted several times until I got that to happen within a reasonable amount of time, and then I placed a savestate at that point so that I wouldn't have to repeat that task again. Everything after that was done tool-less.

I brought a couple flowers with me so I could take care of the Blurps, and also to give me some hit points for when I inevitably get smacked by the Rip Van Fish. Also, I initially tried luring Rip Van Fish from the very start of the level, but man, is it tricky to keep them all following you, since they periodically fall back asleep unless they're already very close to you. After several failed attempts that way, I decided to just concentrate on everything after the ? block about halfway into the level, clearing out the Blurps first, then going back and gathering up ten RVF. Even then it took several tries... Getting more than a few RVF to follow you for a while is harder than you'd think!

And when I got to the end, I think I only had nine with me at that point. Nuts, but nine would've been the maximum if I hadn't gotten rid of baby Yoshi at the start anyway, so I still think I did well.
