Composed for the Playground ensemble's Metro State composer readings on December 4th 2016. This piece depicts a scene close to a dream where you're being chased by something you cannot through a town or maze and sometimes you run into a wall that wasn't there before, indicated by the low clusters in the piano. Every section adds a new idea and takes the music in a similar, although still different path, as if you're retracing your steps, but something is not quite the same. We get a short reprieve in the choral section, although something lurks in the background, and when all seems lost we find our way out of the maze before suddenly being captured by whatever figure or beast that chased us at the beginning.

About the Composer:
Kyle Throw was born in Bellingham Washington in 1990 and grew up in Denver, Colorado. He started playing piano at the age of 16 and instantly fell in love with creating his own music. At age 19 he took his first college theory class and went on to study composition with Dr. Kevin Garry. Later, he transferred to Metro State University of Denver as a Classical Guitar Performance Major before auditioning into the Composition program. Since auditioning, Kyle has studied with World class composers such as R.J. Miller, Dr. Fred Hess and Dr. David Farrell, and Conrad Kehn. Now a Senior at Metro, Kyle plans on continuing his education with a Masters Certificate to study composition for Film and Video Games.
