I made some custom Act 2 themes for the Brad Buxer/MJ Zone themes! If you didn't know, the originals weren't unique arrangements, they simply muted various channels. Compared to the beautifully-crafted remixes of the rest of the game, they stick out like a sore thumb. So I decided to fix that in Deflemask, using Aly James' TFI instrument pack (not sure if it's still out there or not). I also made it into a Sonic 3 A.I.R. mod, so check the link up there whenever it gets approved.
Launch Base Act 2 is loosely inspired by the prototype Act 1, with its slower and more driving rhythm. Originally I was going to do something more derivative, but I realized the original is just made for a funky sound. So to reflect the slow-paced nature of the added water and the fact that Sonic is about to fight the final boss (at least of one half of the game), I made it sound a little more serious. But it's still got the funk, with more extensive sample usage and a new little countermelody for the verses. Someone on Twitter told me that line sounded a lot like Foliage Furnace Act 2 from Sonic ATS, which I had never heard before. Interesting coincidence but not intentional.
