Sonic 4 - Episode 2 - Boss Run (No Damage) - Part 2 - Death Egg Bosses
354Aka: Poor Metal Sonic.
Oh look, I finished a boss run within a reasonable amount of time! That almost... never happens anymore does it? Couple of notes that might be worth reading below.
Boss Notes:
Metal Sonic & Eggpod:
This fight.. if fought normally, is actually pretty damn hard! I lost several lives against this thing the first time I fought it.
The idea behind the fight is to try and bypass Eggman, whose pod bounces you backwards, in between Metal's huge energy orbs of death. This is naturally, as stated, pretty damn hard.
Turns out there's a very bizarre method that allows you to completely neuter Metal's attacks. If you can pit yourself behind Metal Sonic, then you can use Tails to finish him off! Simply use the recall command (R Trigger) and Tails will gladly warp to Sonic, fall behind, and hit Metal as he does so.
.. it gets weirder, because Robotnik's actions are "almost" completely random, you can't always rely on bypassing him. Note the word "almost". There is another really weird trick to this battle, and I have more explaining to do, and I'll make a separate video to explain it.
Metal Sonic Race:
This.. this is just sad. Poor Metal Sonic.
Egg Heart:
Move aside, Egg Dragoon! Egg Heart wishes to claim your title of most obnoxious Eggman mecha! Still, pretty fun, and an awesome concept.. but obnoxious.
Ye gods, this is a difficult boss fight! You can use the flight combo to reach Eggman, and using Tails' rotor ... er.. tails, to hit him is the safest method you can use. Tails has a huge hitbox, and it comes in handy during this fight. Most of the fight is actually fairly easy, if tricky.
The real difficulty comes in two spots:
The fifth attack pattern - This is simply because reaching him at this point is hard to do without taking a hit... and lastly, his pinch mode.
... screw you Robotnik, and screw your pinch mode.
This is almost reliant on luck. Not only do you need to reach Eggman from the bottom ring, (now the second ring is all electrified), not only have the Egg Heart facing the floor, not only have to have enough time to use the Rolling Combo, AND dissipate it, you also need enough time to get a SECOND hit against Robotnik. And with the floor constantly spewing energy.. it's... really.. really hard! The timing for this is crazy!
I think there's a trick to this, if watching this video is any indication, and I'll get back to you whether I can confirm a theory I have, but for now, I'll leave this boss as this game's "That One Boss".
