"Sonic Advance" is a side-scrolling platformer developed for the Game Boy Advance (GBA) handheld console by Sonic Team and Dimps. Released in 2001, it marked Sonic the Hedgehog's debut on the GBA. The game builds upon the classic Sonic formula, blending elements from the Genesis era with new ideas from Sonic's later adventures on the Dreamcast.

In the game, players control Sonic and his friends as they navigate through various levels filled with enemies, obstacles, and loops. Players can choose from four playable characters: Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, and Amy. Each character has unique abilities; Sonic is known for speed, Tails can fly briefly, Knuckles can glide and climb walls, and Amy wields a hammer for attacks.

The game features multiple zones with several acts, including iconic themes from previous Sonic games like Green Hill Zone and Casino Paradise Zone. Special stages provide opportunities to collect Chaos Emeralds by chasing down a UFO within a time limit. The goal is to reach the end of each level while collecting rings, defeating enemies, and avoiding hazards. Boss battles against Dr. Eggman's robotic creations conclude each zone, requiring players to use their characters' abilities effectively.

"Sonic Advance" boasts colorful graphics, sprite-based visuals, and catchy music synonymous with the Sonic series. While the game boasts engaging gameplay and colorful environments, it's not without its flaws. With only twelve levels, it's possible to breeze through them in a short time. However, the inclusion of multiple characters adds replay value, as each character offers a different experience.
