0Sonic Adventure 2: Battle (ソニックアドベンチャー2 バトル Sonikku Adobenchā 2 Batoru?), commonly known as SA2: Battle and SA2B, is the enhanced port of the Dreamcast video game, Sonic Adventure 2. It was released in December 2001 in Japan and 2002 in the rest of the world for the Nintendo GameCube, making it the first Sonic the Hedgehog game to be released for a Nintendo game console. This port includes a variety of exclusive new features and alongside several changes.
Kicking off from the end of both the Hero and Dark Stories, Eggman desperately looks through the computer, trying to figure out what is going wrong. To his shock, he finds a video containing Gerald Robotnik. In the research center, Sonic and Knuckles try to investigate the rumbling when Rouge drops in. She reveals that the ARK is now falling to earth at terminal velocity and that they are all going to die. Suddenly, a video is broadcast out to the whole world. It contains Gerald, filming a few days before his death in a cell on Prison Island. He explains that the ARK is falling to Earth and that in 27 minutes it will land; the resulting explosion will destroy the planet and wipe out all life on it. This protocol was activated when Eggman inserted the Chaos Emeralds into the console, and is his posthumous revenge for G.U.N. storming the ARK 50 years ago and killing Maria Robotnik, whose death drove him insane.
Eggman comes into the room and explains that the figure in the video is Gerald. Knuckles angrily believes that Eggman is responsible, but the doctor argues that he would have done it long ago if he could. Noticing Sonic, he grumbles about how persistent he is as the hedgehog states that Knuckles piloting the shuttle was worse than anything Eggman could throw at him. Eggman then hands Rouge a hard drive containing Gerald's diary, which she plugs into the computer and reads.
