Sonic Adventure: A-Button Challenge - Twinkle Park (1)
Cart Racing backward.... not usually on my to-do list.
So in my LB of SA1 about two and a half years ago, I advertised a series I was gonna do where I'd complete levels in Sonic Adventure while jumping as few times as possible. Well, I never did that, favouring such oddities as Let's Plays and Sonic-only runs of Heroes stages. So I've decided that now, of all times, I should remedy this. Welcome, one and all, to Let's Break Sonic Adventure In A Different Way: A-Button Challenges!... or the SA1 No-Jump Run for short.
Twinkle Park probably has my favourite level aesthetics of any 3D Sonic stage. It's so bright, so happy, and such a great twist on the typical Sonic theme park level trope. The enemies all have their charm, the opening Twinkle Circuit section is awe-inspiring, and Pleasure Castle is easily THE BEST song in the soundtrack. Woulda loved seeing this in Generations, but that's an argument for another day. This level just has so much great stuff in it, it's just fantastic. Too bad I'm gonna skip it all. Spin dash ho!
Putting the Dash in Light Dash:
This run makes use of pretty much every Action Button move in the game. We spin dash across gaps, Light Attack enemies, Light Dash into rings and even across a gap. Basically, if anything in Emerald Coast or Windy Valley gave you trouble, you ain't making it through here, buddy. However, I wouldn't really call anything here difficult once you know what you're doing. All in all probably my favourite anti-A button level in Sonic's story. One word of advice: BEWARE THE POOL. If you wanna practice that section with a little more ease, try using the Free Cam option (if you're playing someoranother version of DX) to get used to the timing involved in controlling Sonic's momentum.
